Description

Kahlúa is a coffee flavored liqueur produced in Mexico City. Arabica coffee beans are harvested, dried, and roasted before they are ground. Coffee is brewed then added to sugarcane spirit (along with vanilla and caramel coloring). Kahlúa was created in Mexico in 1936 and first introduced to the US in 1940. It is an essential ingredient in a Black Russian, White Russian, and Mudslide cocktails among many others. Bottled at 20% ABV, except in Ohio for some reason where it is bottled at 21.5% ABV.

COFFEE LIQUEURS
COFFEE LIQUEURS ARE OFTEN DARK IN COLOR AND TEND TO USE REAL COFFEE IN ITS CREATION. HOWEVER, ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS CAN BE USED. OFTEN NEUTRAL SPIRITS ARE USED AS THE BASE BUT ANY LIQUOR FAMILY CAN BE USED.

TASTING NOTES
“The nose is a mix of green and roasted coffee beans. The sweetness can be detected on the nose. The palate is rich and full of very sweet coffee. The rum note comes through on the finish. Would personally prefer it to be more bitter. It is very one note. “
